After some planning, the first main project of Yang En series project, an institution of higher learning covering an area of more than 600 mu, broke ground on February 1987. After years of hard work, today, a patchwork of high-rise buildings, majestic and elegant, stands proudly at the foot of Shuangji Mountain and the bank of Yangen Lake, integrating teaching, scientific research, office and books. A new institution of higher learning integrating teaching, scientific research and production has been formed. 1in the autumn of 988, the college began to recruit students nationwide. One year later, according to the scale and conditions of school construction, Yang En College was changed into a full-time ordinary college with the consent of the State Education Commission. 1994, with the approval of the State Council, Yang En Foundation, founded by Mr. Wu's family, was independently undertaken and renamed as "Private yang-en university", giving private yang-en university full autonomy in running schools and serving as a pilot for the reform of the national education system. This private yang-en university with the characteristics of openness and internationalization has become the only hometown of overseas Chinese in the whole state, and it is also another private university run by overseas Chinese in our province after Xiamen University founded by Mr. Chen Jiageng.
