Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology, located in Benxi New Town, Liaoning Province, is a provincial-level ordinary undergraduate college with engineering as the main and multidisciplinary coordinated development. It has been selected as a national new engineering research and practice project, a university supported by the Ministry of Education for the integration of production and education, a national "Hundred Schools Project" pilot school, the first batch of pilot schools for undergraduate conversion in Liaoning Province, and the first batch of national pilot schools for the "100 million Project" of the Ministry of Education.

Formerly known as Benxi Metallurgy College, the institute was founded in 1948 and was originally affiliated to the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. 1958, upgraded to Benxi iron and steel institute; In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology, referred to as "Liaoke".
