Guangdong University of Technology, referred to as Guanggong for short, is a provincial-level key university under key construction in Guangdong Province, Guangdong Province's "2 1 1 project", the first batch of high-level universities in Guangdong Province, and the national "1/plan".

Selected as the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, the National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base, the National Intellectual Property Demonstration University, and the Model University for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform of the Ministry of Education, it is the main unit of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, the National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Practice Alliance, the BRICS Think Tank Cooperation China Council, the International Union of Design and Art Colleges, the National Integrated Circuit Industry-University Integration Development Alliance, and the General Education Alliance of Colleges and Universities.

Guangdong University of Technology can be traced back to Guangzhou Institute of Technology 1942. Guangzhou Institute of Technology 1958 was established on the basis of it, and 1962 was upgraded to Guangdong Institute of Technology; 1970 The whole school was moved to Nanhua Temple, and some departments and majors were transferred to South China Institute of Technology. 1982 moved back to Guangzhou; 1995 Guangdong Institute of Technology, East Campus of South China Institute of Architecture and Guangdong Institute of Machinery merged to form Guangdong University of Technology.

As of April 23rd, the school has several campuses, including University Town, Dongfeng Road, Longdong, Panyu, Shahe and Jieyang, covering a total area of more than 5,300 mu. There are 25 colleges, 2 public teaching departments (centers) and 2 research institutes, offering 85 undergraduate majors;

At present, there are 8 first-level authorization points for doctor's degree, 35 second-level authorization points for doctor's degree, 25 first-level authorization points for master's degree, 95 second-level authorization points for master's degree, authorization right for doctor's professional degree 1 kind, authorization right for master's professional degree1kind, and 6 post-doctoral research stations. There are nearly 50,000 full-time students and more than 4,000 faculty members.
