Hangzhou Dianzi University is a teaching and research university with outstanding electronic information characteristics and obvious advantages in economic management, with engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art infiltrating each other.
The school was founded in 1956, formerly known as Hangzhou Aviation Industry Finance and Economics School, and went through the periods of Hangzhou Aviation Industry School, Zhejiang Electric Machinery Institute, Zhejiang Machinery Industry School, Hangzhou Radio Industry Management School and Hangzhou Radio Industry School. 1980 Hangzhou institute of electronic technology was established with the approval of the State Council. In 2003, the original Hangzhou Publishing School was integrated and renamed Hangzhou Dianzi University in 2004.

The school has 19 colleges and teaching units and 1 independent colleges, with more than 25,000 full-time students and more than 2,300 faculty members. The school has a complete talent training system including undergraduate education, postgraduate education, education for international students in China and continuing education. At present, there are 60 undergraduate majors, 10 majors have been selected as national first-class undergraduate majors, 20 majors have been selected as provincial first-class undergraduate majors, 2 national comprehensive reform pilot majors, and 6 pilot majors in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education.
