Shanxi Province, referred to as "Jin" for short, is a provincial-level administrative region of People's Republic of China (PRC). Taiyuan, the capital, is located in the north of China, bordering Hebei Province in the east, Shaanxi Province in the west, Henan Province in the south and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the north, with a latitude of 34 34'-40 44' north latitude and a longitude of10 60 east longitude.
Shanxi Province is a parallelogram inclined from northeast to southwest, which is a typical loess-covered mountain plateau with high terrain in northeast and low terrain in southwest. There are ups and downs in the plateau and vertical and horizontal valleys. Landforms include mountains, hills, plateaus, basins and platforms, of which mountains and hills account for 80%. Shanxi province spans the Yellow River and Haihe River, and the rivers belong to the self-produced outflow system.
