Beijing Normal University (hereinafter referred to as Beijing Normal University) is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national first-class university built by the "985 Project" and "2 1 1 Project", a national cultural quality education base for college students, a national teaching and training base for Chinese as a foreign language, a national life science and technology talent training base, a national excellent legal talent training base and an excellent Chinese traditional culture of the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Beijing, with Cheng Jianping, Party Secretary, and Ma Jun, President.

Beijing Normal University is a university featuring teacher education, educational science and basic disciplines of arts and sciences. As of May, 20021,the school is composed of two campuses (including four campuses), namely, Beijing Campus and Zhuhai Campus, with three departments, 27 colleges, two departments, 1 1 Institute and four colleges.

At present, there are 77 undergraduate majors, 38 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree, 32 first-level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 28 post-doctoral research stations, national high-end think tank pilot units 1 unit, 4 national key laboratories, national engineering laboratories 1 unit, national field scientific observation and research station 1 unit and 3,437 faculty members.

The school's predecessor was Shi Jing University Hall, which was founded in 1902. 1908 was renamed as Shi Jing Excellent Normal School, with independent organizational system. 19 12 was renamed Beijing Normal University. 1923, the school was renamed as Beijing Normal University, becoming the first normal university in the history of China. 193 1 year, 1952 Beiping Women's Normal University and Fu Jen Catholic University were successively merged into Beijing Normal University.
