Sichuan University for Nationalities is a provincial full-time undergraduate college located in kangding city, the hometown of love songs. The school was selected into the education and training plan of outstanding legal talents in Sichuan Province and the education and training plan of outstanding agricultural and forestry talents in Sichuan Province. It is the only ethnic undergraduate college in Kangba Tibetan areas and ethnic areas in Sichuan Province, and it is a provincial "garden campus".
The school was established in 1985, and Kangding Teachers College for Nationalities was established. 1992, the school was renamed "Kangding Teachers College for Nationalities". In 2009, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded and transformed into Sichuan University for Nationalities.

The school was established in 1985, and Kangding Teachers College for Nationalities was established. In the same year, Hu Yaobang, then General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, wrote the name of the school in Chinese.
1986, the 10th panchenerdinichokyigyaltsen panchenerdiniqoigyigya, then vice chairman of the National People's Congress, wrote the name of the school in Tibetan.
1992, the school was renamed "Kangding Teachers College for Nationalities".
In 2004, Ganzi Agricultural School and Ganzi Finance and Economics School were merged.
In March 2009, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was officially upgraded to Sichuan University for Nationalities.
In 20 13, the school successfully passed the evaluation of the right to confer bachelor's degrees by the Ministry of Education and obtained the qualification of the right to confer bachelor's degrees.
