Suzhou University is located in Suzhou, an ancient city known as "paradise on earth". It is a national "2 1 1 project" key construction university and a provincial-level key comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province. Its predecessor was Soochow University, which was founded in 1900. 1952 During the adjustment of national colleges and departments, Soochow University merged with Sunan Institute of Culture and Education and the Department of Mathematics and Science of Jiangnan University to form Sunan Normal College, which was named Jiangsu Normal College in the same year and ran in the former site of Soochow University. 1982 was transformed into Suzhou University with the approval of the State Council. With the approval of the Ministry of Education and the Jiangsu Provincial Government, Suzhou Sericulture Institute, Suzhou Silk Institute and Suzhou Medical College were merged into Suzhou University in 1995, 1997 and 2000 respectively. At present, Suzhou University has developed into a local comprehensive university with considerable scale, solid foundation, remarkable school-running benefits and certain popularity at home and abroad.
