Huaqiao University, founded in 1960, is headquartered in Quanzhou. The school is directly under the leadership of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. It is one of the only two national overseas Chinese universities in China and one of the two universities directly under the central government in Fujian Province. Huaqiao University is a national key comprehensive university. 1983 was identified by China municipal government as a national key supported university. It is the first excellent university to obtain the "Undergraduate Teaching Level Assessment" from the Ministry of Education, and the first university in New China to implement the board system.
Jinan University, referred to as "Jida" for short, is the first overseas Chinese university founded by the state in China, and is known as "the first overseas Chinese school in China". It is the university with the largest number of overseas students in China, a national "2 1 1 Project" university, directly led by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and a pilot university in the "Excellent Doctoral Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education. The word "Jin 'an" comes from the article "Shangshu Gong Yu": "The east is gradually in the sea, the west is in quicksand, and the south is combined, and the sound teaches the world." It means facing South Asia and spreading Chinese culture.
