In order to explore a variety of talent training modes, deepen the reform of higher education, and better realize President Qian Weichang's concept of "knocking down four walls", Qian Weichang proposed to establish an intensive basic teaching class at Shanghai University 1997, presided over by Zhou Zhewei, executive vice president. In June 2007, adhering to the motto of "self-improvement" put forward by Qian Weichang (President), Shanghai University Science Experimental Class was established on the basis of intensive class.

At present, the college has six majors: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biomaterials and mechanics. After one year of general education, I volunteered to enroll as a sophomore according to my grade point. With the characteristic tutorial system, sophomores can follow academic tutors to get in touch with scientific research-related knowledge.
