Established in 1995, Sichuan University Biology Basic Teaching Experimental Center is the first provincial-level basic teaching experimental center in Sichuan Province to pass the evaluation and be listed. With the support of "National Biology Basic Discipline Base Construction", "World Bank Higher Education Development Project Loan", "2 1 1" and national key disciplines, after several years of construction, the Biology Basic Teaching Experimental Center has become a provincial-level basic teaching experimental demonstration center in Sichuan Province.

In 2000, the experimental center of basic biology teaching was moved to the new campus, covering an area of nearly 3,000 square meters. At present, the center has 2036 sets of various instruments and equipment, including 24 sets of precision and precious instruments, with a total equipment value of 1 1 ten thousand yuan. Center * * * has 27 faculty members, 7 full-time professors, 8 associate professors 10 and 8 others. The proportion of teachers with master's and doctor's degrees is 90%, and all experimental technicians have college education, with an average age of nearly 46 years old. The center is open to both inside and outside the school, and undertakes the task of basic experiment teaching for undergraduates in biological sciences, medicine and related disciplines. At present, there are nearly 2000 students in school all the year round, and the average annual experimental teaching volume is 6.5438+0.6 million. The main experimental courses are: general biology experiment, zoology experiment, botany experiment, microbiology experiment, environmental biology experiment, medical cell biology experiment, ecology experiment, basic geoscience experiment, cell and genetics experiment, biochemistry experiment, molecular biology experiment, etc. * * There are 172 experimental projects. In addition, the center has established a stable comprehensive field practice base, improved the practice mode and improved the practice effect. 65438-0997 cooperated with the local government to establish a comprehensive field practice base integrating botany, zoology, ecology and microbiology in Heizhugou, Ebian County. In 2002, new field practice bases were established in Sanjiang area, which is more than 70 kilometers away from Chengdu, and Wang Lang area, peace county. Sanjiang area and Wang Lang area are both national nature reserves. Both regions have virgin forests with peculiar landforms, primitive ecology, beautiful environment, unique climate and rich species. They are giant panda nature reserves and one of the regions with the richest biodiversity in China. After visiting these two areas, ecologists and foresters from the University of Washington in the United States were full of praise. Since 2000, three students from our college and two students from the Sino-American cooperative innovation class (Chinese and American students) have gone to these two areas for comprehensive field practice, and achieved very good internship results. The herbarium of Sichuan University was founded in 1935 by Professor Qian, a pioneer botanist in our library, and later developed by Professor Fang Wenpei, a world-famous botanist, with a history of more than 60 years. After decades of on-the-spot investigation by botanists in our school and specimen exchange between libraries at home and abroad, our library now has more than 500,000 kinds of plant specimens. Among them, more than 0/000 species of new plant species model specimens have been published through research, ranking first in the scale and quantity of universities in China, second only to the individual large-scale herbarium under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. As early as 1950s, this museum was included in the special collection of world-famous herbarium. At present, it is applying to the National Endangered Species Science Committee for exemption from the exchange of scientific specimens of wild plants.

As the research base of botany, the Botanical Herbarium of Sichuan University has collected a wealth of specimen materials, providing sufficient specimen materials for compiling world botanical monographs and flora of various countries and regions, providing concrete specimens for the development of plant taxonomy, flora, phytogeography, plant ecology, phytochemistry, palynology, plant cytology, paleobotany and medicinal botany, and also providing materials and basis for production and application departments such as agriculture, industry, medicine and health. At the same time, the library also provides superior conditions for a large number of botany doctors, masters and undergraduates at home and abroad to complete their dissertations and teachers' teaching and scientific research work. In science education, we have received tens of thousands of college students to visit and study here, which has contributed to the popularization of scientific knowledge. Sichuan University Animal Herbarium was formed by the merger of the former Sichuan University Animal Herbarium and Yuan Hua Xi Sheikh University Museum of Natural History in 1952, and the earliest specimens were collected in 1908. Zhou Taixuan, Chen Yi, Hu, and other famous biologists have worked hard for the construction and development of the animal specimen museum. After previous field visits and internships, and the outstanding work and efforts of several generations, the museum has now collected more than 80,000 specimens. Among them are precious model animal specimens and rare and endangered animals, such as giant panda, golden monkey and baiji. And precious specimens exchanged and donated internationally, such as kangaroo, platypus, echidna, emu, cassowary, rhinoceros and zebra. The wild species of many specimens are hard to see in nature and are priceless.

The collection of animal specimens is rich, complete in variety, large in scale and long in history. Not only is it second to none in southwest China, but it is also among the best in universities all over the country. This museum has very obvious regional characteristics, and the collection of specimens has been concentrated in the southwest for a long time, especially including the Hengduan Mountains, which is of great significance in animal evolution and species formation. It has important reference value for studying species formation, flora evolution, biodiversity and the protection and utilization of animal resources. At present, it is applying to the National Endangered Species Science Committee for exemption from the exchange of wildlife research specimens.

The laboratory focuses on the scientific and technological problems encountered in the western region, such as rampant biological disasters, deterioration of ecological environment, a large number of biological resources on the verge of extinction, low production level, food safety crisis and so on. According to the unique historical, geographical and technological advantages of Sichuan University and its School of Life, the laboratory takes resource biology and controlling biological disasters ("disaster control"), protecting biological resources, protecting ecological environment, protecting human health and food safety ("three guarantees") as its main research fields. Applying modern biotechnology and integrating related high and new technologies for comprehensive management can effectively control biological disasters, protect biological resources, protect ecological environment, and ensure human health and food safety, thus promoting the sustainable utilization of biological resources in western China, especially in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the sustainable development of local economy. Through years of construction and development, the laboratory has built a scientific research and management team with reasonable age structure and complete professional direction. At present, there are 43 staff members, including professors 15, doctoral supervisors 10, associate professors/20, members of the discipline group of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee 1 person, national experts with outstanding contributions 1 person, 2 trans-century talents of the Ministry of Education, 3 academic leaders in Sichuan Province and 29 researchers with doctoral degrees. After years of scientific research practice, especially since the establishment of the National Professional Laboratory 10, the laboratory has made good achievements in scientific research and foreign exchange. Since 1996, * * * has undertaken more than 80 national, provincial and horizontal scientific research projects (including 42 national and 43 provincial projects), won more than 30 national and provincial scientific and technological progress awards successively, won 7 awards since 1996 (including 2 national and 5 provincial and ministerial), and developed 6 agricultural biological agents, and applied for it. We have established extensive academic exchanges and scientific and technological cooperation with relevant research institutions at home and abroad. The laboratory successfully held three national academic seminars on grassland rodent and pest control and an academic exchange meeting on ecological protection of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, participated in 28 international academic conferences, and 27 people spoke at the meetings or groups. There were 16 foreign experts and 10 domestic experts invited to give lectures here, as well as Washington University, Michigan State University and Florida University.
