In which country was Tsinghua University built?
There are two in Tsinghua, and the one whose current address is in Beijing was not founded by an American. Before 1948, the Tsinghua in Beijing was funded by Americans. However, before the founding of New China, Mei Yiqi, then president of Tsinghua, transferred part of Tsinghua's resources and all its funds to Taiwan Province Province and founded another Tsinghua, namely, today's Hsinchu Tsinghua University. At present, Tsinghua in Beijing is a university re-established by New China after 1950, but its name is still Tsinghua, and it has been expanded on the original site. Tsinghua, New China, started as a junior college, and later changed to a university.
