Nanjing University, formerly known as National Central University and Jinling University, is the earliest comprehensive university in China to recruit and train graduate students. After the founding of New China, Nanjing University resumed postgraduate enrollment 1954. From 65438 to 0978, Nanjing University once again became one of the first universities in China to resume enrolling graduate students. At the beginning of 1995, the the State Council Academic Degrees Committee Office and the State Education Commission made a comprehensive evaluation of 33 graduate schools in China and approved the formal establishment of Nanjing University Graduate School.
Nanjing University has a number of disciplines with strong basic advantages, and its international influence has been significantly enhanced. In 20 12, in the third round of first-level discipline evaluation organized by the degree center of the Ministry of Education, three first-level disciplines ranked first, nine first-level disciplines ranked third, and 16 first-level disciplines ranked fifth. By the end of April, 20 13, 12 disciplines had entered the top of ESI world 1%, among which chemistry and materials science had been among the top of the world 100.
