Taking the road of internationalization is an important way to improve the level of running a school and expand its international influence. The institute has carried out extensive academic exchanges with foreign counterparts and held many international academic conferences, such as international ironmaking conference, international alloy thermodynamics conference, international continuous casting conference for developing countries, international seminar on aluminum metallurgy and international conference on metallurgical history.

Actively establish cooperative relations with world-renowned universities, and successively exchange scholars and jointly train students with the University of Tokyo, Tohoku University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Aachen University of Technology, Leuven University in Belgium and the University of New South Wales in Australia. Over the past three years, more than 60 graduate students have been jointly trained, and a college student exchange week has been held with Tohoku University in Japan every year. Professor SADOWAY from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Professor FRAY from Cambridge University were hired as part-time professors.

In order to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, 58 foreign experts from famous universities or research institutions such as Germany, the United States, Britain, Japan and South Korea were invited to visit our school. Send 53 teachers to participate in various international exchange activities, including the special report 15. At the 13 International Symposium on the History of Science in East Asia, Professor Mei Jianjun was elected as the new president of the International East Asian Society for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine. The 7th exchange meeting on students' innovative activities jointly organized with Tohoku University in Japan was held in September, 20 1 1. Twenty-six students from our college attended the meeting. The college actively sent international students to strengthen personnel training: eight students were sent to Aachen University in Germany to study for a master's degree; Five students were selected to study for a master's degree at the University of Leuven in Belgium.
