The West Gate of Xiamen University is a gift project for the 70th anniversary of the founding of 199 1 Xiamen University. It was built with a donation of 654.38 million yuan from Mr. Zhang, an overseas Chinese in Jinjiang. 199 1 completed in March.
The main designer is Zhang Tinghui from the Department of Architecture of Xiamen University, and the relief designer is Sun Xilin from Xiamen University.
The main building is based on an arc rectangle extending from left to right, and the upper two corners are slightly inclined to symbolize the dovetail ridge. The main body is symmetrically composed, and the upper part is equipped with relief to reflect the solemnity and cultural connotation of the university gate. The whole shape is concise and bright, stretching, full of modern tension, and expresses the unique architectural charm and inheritance of Xiamen University.
The four characters of Xiamen University above the school gate are enlarged from the small characters selected from the manuscripts of letters when Mr. Lu Xun1920s taught at Xiamen University.
