Lanzhou College of Arts and Science, the predecessor of Gansu Education College and Gansu Union University, was founded in 1950 and 1985 respectively. In July of 20001year, the two universities merged to form the new Gansu United University. 20 13 In April, with the consent of the Ministry of Education, Lanzhou University of Arts and Sciences was established on the basis of Gansu Union University.
Gansu Union University was approved by Gansu Provincial Government in August, 20001. After the merger of the former Gansu Institute of Education and Gansu Union University, it was reorganized into an ordinary institution of higher learning integrating arts, science, engineering, law, economics, art and other disciplines. Gansu Institute of Education (formerly known as Lanzhou Workers and Peasants Accelerated Middle School Education Training Course and Gansu Teachers College) founded by 1950 has trained a large number of junior college students, primary and secondary school teachers and education management cadres for the society since it was established independently by 1962.
The former Gansu Union University is a provincial comprehensive general college with application-oriented special education. Its school-running mode is flexible, and its specialty setting is closely integrated with the market. From the establishment, development to re-establishment, the two universities have experienced more than 50 years of educational practice, accumulated rich experience in running schools, and formed a specialty with distinctive advantages to meet the market demand. They have successively trained more than 25,000 applied undergraduate colleges and other construction talents, making positive contributions to social and economic construction and educational development.
