Xinjiang Normal University, located in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is one of the "Basic Capacity Building Engineering Universities in Central and Western China". It is the first batch of demonstration base colleges for studying in China by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, the Ministry of Education, and the recipient institution of China government's scholarship for studying in China. Mainland universities such as East China Normal University and Jilin University jointly undertake counterpart support to Xinjiang Normal University.
