Does anyone know when CET4 will be reformed? Don't say anything until you're sure.
From June, 5438 to February, 2008, 50 colleges and universities across the country conducted a pilot computer examination, and some students also tasted the sweetness or bitterness of this new examination form. More students have different levels of anxiety and fear because of the unknown. Recently, I have received many questions about CET-4 and CET-6. Now I will answer five questions that everyone is very concerned about in detail, for reference only.

1. Why do you want to replace the traditional paper-and-pencil exam with a computer exam?

The traditional paper-and-pencil exam has many obvious disadvantages, such as the leakage of answers due to confidentiality omissions; Single test questions lead to plagiarism in the examination room; Fixed routines lead to strong skills; Limited time leads to poor flexibility. These problems can be solved to some extent after the implementation of computer examination: one more year will increase the chances of getting into the exam; One person, one roll, to avoid leaking secrets and cheating; Style is changeable, focusing on quality and ability; Imitating TOEFL is more in line with international standards.

2. What's the difference between computer test and traditional paper-and-pencil test?

A. 1. Examination format: The answer medium is changed from paper and pen to computer and network.

B. Secondly, the content of the examination: As listening takes a large proportion in the investigation process, from this perspective, the reformed CET-4 and CET-6 pay more attention to the examination of students' language communication ability. At present, the popular plate structure and score are set at 70 for listening and 30 for reading. This statement is somewhat exaggerated. Let's take a look at the process and score arrangement of CET-4 in February 2008.

① video comprehension: main points and important details

Answer 25% of the multiple-choice questions according to a video (about five minutes)

(2) Listening to fill in the blanks: comprehensive dictation based on listening.

The video dialogue is played back sentence by sentence, and the key words in the sentence are 10%.

③ Dialogue follow-up: Listen and repeat.

The video dialogue is played back sentence by sentence, and the candidates repeat the recorded questions 10%.

④ Reading comprehension: Reading comprehension.

Section A: In-depth reading traditional reading multiple-choice questions 20%

Part B: Skimming and scanning fast reading to judge or choose and fill in the blanks 10%

⑤ Grammar and structure

Paragraph A: The bank mainly fills in the form with videos and reading materials, answers 5% grammar questions and fills in the blanks.

Paragraph B: The translation is mainly video and reading materials, and 5% is blank translation.

⑥ Theme writing: summary and induction

Based on the video and reading materials, 15% of the essay questions were completed.

According to the introduction of the above test, we can know that as a new CET-4 paper-and-pencil test, the topic of pure listening still accounts for 35%, and the following topics can be included in the scope of listening and speaking. Other questions except pure reading are based on listening materials or reading materials, which cannot be completely included in the listening part. The topic of pure reading has been reduced from 35% of the paper-and-pencil test in the new level 4 to 30%, but there are still other topics that may be related to reading. Generally speaking, reading can not be ignored, especially listening. Based on listening and reading, the new CET-4 better proves the relationship between input and output from the perspective of linguistics.

C Finally, the examination time: the traditional paper-and-pencil examination time is from 9 am to 1 1: 20, while the new CET-4 computer examination time is from 9 am to 1 1: 00, which is 20 minutes less than the original.

3. What is the impact of the computer test on the candidates, and when will it be rolled out?

Many students don't know much about the computer test, and they are blindly afraid, which is totally unnecessary. We should be full of confidence on the basis of paying enough attention to the problem. The computer test is first of all a great test of the computer application level of China candidates; Secondly, the proposition Committee puts forward new requirements for everyone's generally weak listening ability; For many reasons, the computer test can't evaluate the score by itself after the test; Students who take the computer test will have a computer test certificate in addition to the CET-4 and CET-6 transcripts; Computer examination plays a positive role in maintaining and improving college students' English (forum) ability.

Some students are worried that the computer test has just been implemented, and rushing to participate will damage the results. Actually, it is not. First of all, the implementation of the reform is bound to go through a pilot, and the scope will be gradually expanded, which is by no means a one-off event. Moreover, this kind of examination form requires high software and hardware, and the national computer examination needs scientific demonstration and feasibility analysis; Secondly, when introducing new questions and new exams, in order to avoid pain, the difficulty is usually reduced, so that the participating students can take the stage with a calm mind. Thirdly, colleges and universities should bear corresponding responsibilities for their students' passing grades in CET-4 and CET-6, so in general, training and mock exams will be organized before students refer to them; Finally, at present, computer examinations in most colleges and universities are optional. The school encourages students to register for the computer test, and promises to let them take the written test for free (the two forms of tests are not conducted on the same day), and finally get twice the high score as the file score of Band 4 and Band 6, and even reward students who take the computer test.

From June, 5438 to February, 2008, 50 schools were selected as pilot projects in China, which are still few compared with the paper and pencil band 4. In 2009, it is planned to set up 1000 test sites throughout the country. Computer examination has become an important trend in the development of CET4 and CET6. However, in the short term, there is still a long way to go before computer-based exams can completely replace paper-and-pencil exams in China. Moreover, it should be mentioned that the reform of CET-6 is generally later than CET-4, so students who take CET-6 don't have to worry too much.

4. How to prepare for the computer exam and what should I pay attention to in the process?

At present, there is relatively little experience in preparing for computers, which can be followed. TOEFL is the only reference we can refer to. TOEFL should be the baton of our CET-4 and CET-6 reform. Everyone should know more about TOEFL in the process of reviewing for the exam.

Effectively improve your English ability, especially listening and speaking ability. Farewell to dumb English, computer test is essential. Students preparing for the computer test should focus on this aspect, so as to get good grades. Don't expect too much from answering skills and exam routines. The slow development of the new CET-4 and CET-6 should lead to the random pattern of different question banks. In the good question bank of 100* 100, the test questions are randomly generated, so in the future, CET-4 and CET-6 have their own machine classics, and the popular shortcut means will be invalid.

Usually practice computer application, keyboard input, English writing, screen reading and so on. Avoid the discomfort caused by contacting the new exam. When entering the examination room, you should carefully check the hardware equipment, especially headphones and microphones, and debug the output and input volume.

There is a time limit for each part of the computer test, and the other part will not begin until one part is over. Therefore, the questions that candidates have done are "confirmed" and cannot be changed. Therefore, candidates should consider as comprehensively as possible before submitting. At the same time, in this case, it is unlikely to "hand in the paper" in advance.

In addition, it is suggested that students who take the computer test bring paper and pen when possible, and record key information in the video material when necessary, which can alleviate the pressure of keyboard input.
