Southwestern University of Finance and Economics authorized the establishment of a master's degree and a doctor's degree in law and economics in 2004 and 2006 respectively. It is one of the first five universities in China to set up doctoral programs, and its discipline research level ranks in the forefront of the country. The economic law major of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics is the earliest undergraduate major offered by Law School (1987), and it is also the earliest master's degree authorization point approved by Law School (1998).
