Donghua University, located in Shanghai, China, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is also a national "double-class" construction university, and the national "2 1 1 project" focuses on the construction of universities. It was selected into the National College Students' Innovative Experimental Plan, the National Postgraduate Plan for Building High-level Universities, and the National College Students' Cultural Quality Education Base.

The history of the school can be traced back to the Textile Printing and Dyeing Institute founded by industrialist Zhang Jian in 19 12.
