Andrew carnegie and Andrew Mellon, two founders of Carnegie Mellon University, are both important figures in modern American history. Carnegie was one of the four American chaebols in the early 20th century, and its wealth ranked second in the whole human history, second only to the oil tycoon Rockefeller.
Mellon, a famous American banker and the mother company of Mellon Financial Consortium, served as US Treasury Secretary from 192 1 to 1932, and has gone through three administrations. Mellon Consortium is one of the largest asset management companies in the world, and completed the merger with Bank of new york in 2007. The official mascot is the Scottish Terrier.
1900, andrew carnegie wrote to the government, willing to invest100000 pounds to establish a technical college. Later, the government allocated 32 hectares of land near Xiaolai Park to build Carnegie Institute of Technology. According to Carnegie's vision, the college will train industrial professionals needed for Pittsburgh's three-year project.
2. School development:
Initially, the college included science and technology schools, art schools, apprentices and skilled workers schools in manufacturing and construction industries, and Margaret Morrison Carnegie Housewives and Secretaries Training School. In the next 20 years, the college also offered master's and doctor's training courses.
