Chen Ping 1962 graduated from the five-year experimental class of Shanghai Gezhi Middle School; 1974- 1979, intern researcher at Hefei Institute of Plasma Physics, China Academy of Sciences; 1987, received a doctorate in physics from the University of Texas at Austin.
