School profile
Southeast University began with Sanjiang Normal School, which was founded in 1902. After that, it experienced important historical periods such as Liangjiang Normal University, Nanjing Normal University, National Southeast University and National Central University. During the period of 1952, the departments of colleges and universities in China were adjusted and the departments of arts and sciences moved out. The former National Central University School of Engineering was merged into Fudan University, Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University and Jinling University, and Nanjing Institute of Technology was established in the original site of the National Central University (now Sipailou Campus of Southeast University).
1988 was renamed Southeast University. In 2000, it merged with the former Nanjing Railway Medical College, Nanjing Jiaotong University and Nanjing Geological School to form a new Southeast University.
