Hebei University of Geology, founded in 1953, is one of the five universities directly under the former Ministry of Geology. It is a provincial key university jointly established by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the People's Government of Hebei Province. Li Tingdong, an academician of China Academy of Sciences, is the honorary president of the school.
As the earliest institution directly under the former Ministry of Geology to set up the major of economic management in New China, the school has always taken "providing talents and scientific and technological support for the sustainable development of resources and environment" as its core mission.
Adhering to the motto of "broad-minded and knowledgeable" and carrying forward the glorious tradition of "hard work, seeking truth from facts and innovation", the school has gradually formed the overall characteristics of "highlighting resources, environment and economic management" and strengthened the coordinated development of multi-level disciplines and professional groups such as earth science, economic management science, environmental science, land surveying and mapping science, construction engineering science, information technology science, humanities and social science and basic science.
