Southwest University for Nationalities was founded in July 1950, formally established in June 195 1, renamed Southwest University for Nationalities in April 2003, and approved by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education in March 20 15.
The emblem pattern of Southwest University for Nationalities consists of the schematic pattern of the south gate of the new campus, the double circle "Southwest University for Nationalities" in Chinese and English, and the date of its establishment.
