Xinjiang Normal University was founded on February 28th, 1978. Its predecessor was Urumqi No.1 Normal School established in 1906 and Xinjiang Teacher Training Department established in 1972. 1993 The Ministry of Education authorized schools to start enrolling master's degree students, and in 2003 authorized schools to enroll professional master's degree students.
