Overview of dalian polytechnic university:

Founded in 1958, it is one of the earliest four light industry colleges in China. Originally affiliated to the Ministry of Light Industry, 1998 was transformed into a system focusing on central and local construction and management in Liaoning Province. In March 2007, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed dalian polytechnic university from Dalian Institute of Light Industry. For more than half a century, the school has gradually developed into an institution of higher learning with industry as the mainstay and six disciplines of engineering, science, literature, management and economics as the coordinated development, featuring the cultivation of professionals in food, light industry, textiles and art.

At present, the school has three first-level disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, food science and engineering, light industry technology and engineering, textile science and engineering, two postdoctoral research stations, 14 first-level disciplines authorized by master's degree and eight categories authorized by master's degree. The school was selected as the first batch of "double-first-class" key construction universities in Liaoning Province, and three first-class disciplines, namely, food science and engineering, light industry technology and engineering, and textile science and engineering, were selected as the first-class key construction disciplines of universities in Liaoning Province.
