Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education. It was founded on May 26th, 2000 by the merger of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji Medical University, Wuhan Urban Construction College and Cadre Management College of the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is a comprehensive university covering science, engineering, medicine, literature and management. It is one of the largest and first-class institutions of higher learning in China, and it is also the first batch of institutions listed in the national "2 1 1 project".
