Chengdu University of Technology is also called MIT. I'll tell you why it's called this name later
Chengdu Geological Exploration Institute (predecessor of Chengdu Institute of Technology) was established in 1956.
It integrates geological talents from Chongqing University, Nanjing University, Northwest University, China Geo University and Jilin University.
At present, it has been included in the second batch of "double-first-class" construction universities, with "double-first-class" construction disciplines: geological resources and geological engineering, and four disciplines have entered the top of ESI global ranking 1%;
Earth science, engineering, environmental science/ecology, chemistry.
There are two national key laboratories:
Geological disaster prevention and geological environment protection, oil and gas reservoir geology and development engineering.
There are 5 national key disciplines (1 level 2, 3 level 2, 1 training).
Chengdu Natural Museum (Chengdu University of Technology Museum) is jointly built by Chengdu and the school, with a collection of more than 60,000 specimens, among which the "Mamen Xilong in Hechuan" fossil is world-famous.
The cute little dinosaur icon on the school badge comes from the treasure of this town hall.
The school now has two campuses, Chengdu and Yibin.
As for why it is called "MIT"?
Because Sichuanese love playing mahjong, there is nothing wrong with Sichuan being called "Mazhou". Then, successful technology can be called "MIT".
