The college has seven undergraduate majors: automation, energy and power engineering, nuclear engineering and technology, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, material forming and control engineering, metal material engineering and energy chemical engineering. Four master's degree authorization points for first-class disciplines and 14 master's degree authorization points for two disciplines, as well as four professional master's degree authorization points and master's degree authorization points for engineering management; Mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics are three first-class doctoral authorization points; Post-Doctoral Research Center 1 unit (power engineering and engineering thermophysics).
The college has two key disciplines in Hubei Province: fluid machinery and engineering, mechanical design and theory. Hubei Key Laboratory of Fluid Machinery and Power Engineering Equipment Technology, Hubei Key Laboratory of Hydraulic Machinery Transition Process and Hubei Key Laboratory of Water Jet Theory and New Technology; Mechanical engineering and comprehensive engineering training are two experimental teaching demonstration centers in Hubei Province. It has successively undertaken power plant power engineering and automation, the tenth five-year key discipline, the third key discipline, the safe, economical and clean operation of power plant and power grid, and the second phase expansion platform of 985 project.
