Since the curriculum reform of basic education in the whole region in 2002, the school has led teachers to actively explore new teaching models, participated in the research of "subject education" in the whole country and "innovative education" in Haidian District, and boldly explored and strived to build a model of primary school teaching subject participating in learning on the basis of studying students' subject participation in learning. The implementation of quality education and new curriculum standards has brought a bright spring to teaching and built a platform for teachers to display their talents.

In recent years, teachers and students of HKUST Primary School have made great achievements in various competitions in China, Beijing and Haidian District. Nearly 80 people won the excellent paper award in the national, Beijing and Haidian scientific research papers selection. The teachers of this school have achieved good results in the basic skills test and evaluation classes held by the city, district and center. Three teachers won the third prize in the fourth national teacher model essay contest; Students participated in national, municipal and district-level composition competitions, English competitions, mathematics spring cup, wisdom cup competitions, computer and other multidisciplinary competitions, and many students won prizes.
