Automobile College, where the vehicle engineering (automobile) major is located, is located in Jiading Campus of Tongji University, and is the carrier of the core functions of scientific research and education of Shanghai International Automobile City. Automobile major was established in 1988, and Automobile College was established in 2002, with Professor Wan Gang as the first dean (currently vice chairman of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and former minister of science and technology).
