3. Celebration Day
1905, 14 September (August 16th, 31st year of Guangxu), Fudan College officially opened. Before 1949, Fudan always regarded this day as its anniversary. On March 2nd, 1937, Fudan University held a school affairs meeting and designated May 5th as Alumni Day. 1On May 5, 938, Fudan University decided that today was the "founding anniversary" of moving to Beibei. Since then, the anniversary and alumni day have become one. 1May 27th, 949, was the day when Shanghai was liberated and Fudan was reborn. Later, the Board of Directors of Fudan University adopted President Chen Wangdao's suggestion and designated May 27th as the anniversary day of Fudan University.
