Jiangxi Normal University is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, and it is a basic capacity building project for universities in the central and western regions. The school integrates philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management and art, and is located in Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province, which has a profound historical and cultural heritage and is known as "the treasure of things and the outstanding people". It has a great influence on Jiangxi's political, economic, cultural and social development, and has been identified as a provincial key (normal) school with priority development by Jiangxi Provincial People's Government. The school has two campuses, Yaohu and Qingshan Lake, covering an area of more than 3,500 mu, with a building area of 1.4 million square meters.

I. Historical evolution

The school originated from Lushan Bailudong Academy, 1940 was founded as National Chung Cheng University, 1949 was renamed Nanchang University, 1953 was renamed Jiangxi Normal University, and 1983 was renamed Jiangxi Normal University. It is the oldest undergraduate institution of higher learning in Jiangxi Province. In 2003, Jiangxi Financial Workers College (Jiangxi Bank School) was merged into the school.

The school is a doctoral degree awarding unit and the first batch of bachelor's and master's degree awarding units in China. Now it has 23 professional colleges, 3 industrial colleges (* * *), 1 independent college (polytechnic) and 88 undergraduate majors. There are four disciplines (chemistry, materials science, engineering and agriculture) in the top 1% of ESI world rankings, five first-class disciplines (Marxist theory, chemistry, education, China language and literature, geography) in Jiangxi province, and three doctoral degree authorization points 13. Among them, there are 12 first-class disciplines (Marxist theory, China language and literature, chemistry, psychology, education, China history, mathematics, geography, management science and engineering, physical education, physics and biology), professional doctoral degree authorization points (doctor of education) 10, and postdoctoral mobility (work). In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, Marxist theory entered Class A disciplines, while pedagogy, psychology, China language and literature, mathematics and chemistry entered Class B disciplines.
