Yinchuan Institute of Technology, the predecessor of Yinchuan University of Science and Technology, was founded in 1958. Originally under the management of the Second Ministry of Machinery Industry, Aluminum Company and Nonferrous Metals Industry Administration, it was placed under the management of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region from 1998. In 2006, it was renamed Yinchuan Vocational College of Science and Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education. 202 1, the school was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Yinchuan University of Science and Technology.
