The full name of the Naval Academy is Dalian Naval Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It belongs to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy, and mainly undertakes the undergraduate education of naval surface ship growth commanding officers and technical officers of surveying and mapping and ocean growth, the primary training of surface ship active officers, and the auxiliary training of surface ship active officers and naval political work.

As well as postgraduate education, new equipment training and foreign military cadet education, it is the A-B authorized training unit of China International Hydrographic Surveyor, the A-level authorized training unit of International Nautical Cartographer, the world "Double A" training unit and the key construction unit of postgraduate education under the overall conditions of the "2 1 10 Project" of the whole army.

The college has a laboratory system with reasonable structure and distinctive features, with more than 200 laboratories of various types. Military navigation laboratory and marine surveying and mapping engineering laboratory are key laboratories of the military.

There is a well-equipped and fully functional training venue system, with more than 20 training venues. The training conditions of comprehensive physical skills training ground, military sports training ground, windsurfing training ground, surface ship damage training ground, swimming pool, seaside observation field and other venues rank in the forefront of the whole army.

Build a public service system with concentrated resources and wide application. Naval Academy has two libraries, 1 Information Management Center and 1 Practice Gallery. Have a professional simulation training system close to actual combat. There are more than 60 kinds of training simulation equipment and thousands of sets of teaching equipment. All surface ships are engaged in professional teaching, and the coverage rate of main battle weapons and operational information systems reaches 85%.
