The college consists of computer science and technology department, communication engineering department, software engineering department, network engineering department, internet of things engineering department, computer basic teaching department, computer basic laboratory, party and government office, academic affairs office, software new technology research institute, communication and network research institute, intelligent information processing research institute, computer engineering research institute and so on 16 secondary institutions. There are five full-time undergraduate majors, including computing science and technology, communication engineering, software engineering, network engineering and Internet of Things engineering. Among them, computer science and technology and communication engineering are listed as characteristic majors in Hunan Province. The college holds a master's degree in computer science and technology and a master's degree in engineering in computer technology. In addition, there are Hunan University Student Innovation Center, Hunan Postgraduate Innovation Base, Hunan Key Laboratory of Intelligent Perception and Network Control, and Hunan Key Discipline in the Twelfth Five-Year Plan.
