The Science and Technology of Landscape Plants and Ornamental Horticulture of Sichuan Agricultural University was established in 1995, and was approved as a provincial key discipline in Sichuan Province in 2007. This subject is based on the organic combination of Industry-University-Research, promoting learning by production, promoting research by production and promoting research by production. At present, three research directions have been formed: the creation of garden plant germplasm resources and the breeding of new varieties, the planning and design of landscape architecture and the ecological construction of human settlements. 20 10 central special funds are mainly used for teaching and research of landscape plant morphology and anatomy, molecular biology teaching and research equipment purchase. Local financial matching funds are mainly used for laboratory renovation and experimental equipment purchase. The school's self-raised funds are mainly used for academic exchanges and academic materials procurement.

Taking the central government's support for the construction of provincial key dominant disciplines in local universities as an opportunity, we will comprehensively upgrade and develop this discipline in terms of experimental equipment, laboratory construction, innovative experimental platform construction, talent introduction quality, academic exchange and so on. Through the first phase of construction, strive to build 1 national innovative talent training experimental zone; Strive for national scientific research projects 1 item and 2 provincial scientific research projects. This subject will be built into an intermediate training base and scientific research platform for senior landscape talents in the western region.
