Investigation report on college students' reading orientation

order

Objective: Books are human's best friends and one of the most precious spiritual foods, and play an extremely important role in our college life. As we all know, it is not enough to improve a student's comprehensive quality just by improving textbook knowledge. In order to improve one's literacy, expand one's knowledge and increase the amount of extracurricular reading is an essential step. Twelve years of studying hard at the cold window won us a university pass and climbed Shushan for twelve years, which won us half the charm of life. This is the road to study that many students have taken. So what is the current reading situation of college students who have entered the university gate? With this question, we made a survey on campus and made a simple analysis and research on the survey results. By understanding the orientation of college students' extracurricular reading, this paper explores how to choose extracurricular reading correctly, so as to put forward reasonable suggestions, give targeted guidance and help, and make students interested in extracurricular reading, develop the habit of extracurricular reading, acquire knowledge and be edified. To this end, we launched this survey.

Survey scope: all students in this campus.

Survey method: A written questionnaire survey was used to conduct a random sampling survey on all college students.

Investigation approach: First, some questionnaires were distributed through classmates, friends and community seniors, but the number was insufficient and the ratio of male to female was not harmonious, and then the questionnaires were distributed under the teaching building.

Sample size: ** 1 10 questionnaires, recovered 106 questionnaires and valid 100 questionnaires, with a recovery rate of 94.34%, including 34 freshmen, 22 sophomores, 25 juniors and 0/9 seniors.

Survey items: the degree of interest in extracurricular reading, the reasons for extracurricular reading, the type selection of extracurricular reading books, the way of extracurricular reading, and the time and quantity of extracurricular reading.

Investigation, statistics and analysis

I. Statistics

Total * * * carries on the comparative analysis from four aspects, namely (1) all students, (2) freshmen to seniors, and (3) boys and girls. There are seven questions.

1.( 1) As far as all students are concerned, most students don't hate reading, and only 5% and 3% students choose not to like reading and don't like reading very much. Students who like reading very much account for 20%, and more people choose like and average, both of which are 36%.

(2) Freshmen are different from seniors.

Very much, generally, not very much.

Freshmen 24% 33% 33% 3% 6%

Sophomore 5% 4 1% 45% 5%

Primary 28% 28% 24% 12% 4%

Advanced 1 1% 42% 42%

As can be seen from the table, freshmen and juniors are almost the same, but seniors are more prominent, and almost no one hates extracurricular reading, but the proportion of people who like it is the least, and they are more concentrated and ordinary students like it.

(3) The situation of boys and girls is similar, but girls seem to prefer extracurricular reading, with 25% of girls and 13% of boys enjoying it very much, while 1 1% of boys do not like reading, and only 4% of girls like it.

2. For the statistics of reading reasons, because some of them are multiple-choice questions, they cannot be converted into percentages, and only data comparison can be made. The same is true for the following two questions.

(1) Most people read after class because they are interested, with 54 people choosing, followed by helping study (28), improving their own quality (365,438+0) and killing boring time (35). Only four people ask for it from teachers or parents, or six people have other reasons.

(2) Because of the different number of students in each grade, it is relatively difficult to compare, but it can be seen from the data that it is basically consistent with the overall situation with little difference.

(3) Boys and girls are all the same, but there is a little difference. Twenty-two boys chose the reason to kill boring time, while girls only had 10.

3.( 1) The types of extra-curricular books are more diversified, and the quantity gap is correspondingly smaller. From more to less, they are: leisure and entertainment newspapers (39), online popular novels (35), literary masterpieces (34), world-best novels (29), popular science books (2 1), teaching guidance books (19) and modern poetry essays (165433).

(2) Comparing the data of four grades, more than half of them only have online popular novels of freshmen; Secondly, freshmen and seniors read more casual newspapers and periodicals, and sophomores read more literary masterpieces, nearly half of them; From freshman to senior, popular science books and teaching guidance books are gradually increasing, while the world's best-selling novels are decreasing.

(3) Comparing the data of boys and girls, the difference is not obvious. The number of girls reading popular science books is less than that of boys by more than a dozen people. Similarly, the number of boys reading literary classics is more than ten less than that of girls, and other data are basically similar.

4.( 1) Paper reading (53), Internet reading (2 1) and mobile phone reading (23), whichever is convenient (29)

Obviously, most people still prefer paper reading.

(2) Comparing the data of each grade one by one, freshmen still prefer paper reading, but unlike the overall situation, online reading and mobile reading obviously prefer mobile reading, and only one person chooses online reading. Sophomore basically conforms to the overall situation. In junior year, the number of people who read on paper is the same as that who read online. Except for most senior three students who like paper reading, they have basically formed their own reading style, and only two people choose which one is convenient.

(3) The situation of boys and girls is basically the same as the whole.

5. The time of extracurricular reading is definitely an important indicator to measure the amount of extracurricular reading.

. ( 1)

It can be clearly seen from this bar chart that all students are under 1 hour or under 1-3 hours, and less than 10% are over 3 hours.

1 hour or less 1-3 hours, 3-5 hours and 5 hours or more.

Freshmen 44% 44% 9% 3%

Sophomore 36% 50% 5%

Junior year 44% 44% 4% 4%

Advanced 58% 37% 5%

(2)

As can be seen from the table, senior students spend the least time reading.

(3)

1 hour or less 1-3 hours, 3-5 hours and 5 hours or more.

Boys 35% 39% 4% 2%

Girls 32% 55% 7% 5%

It is obvious that girls spend more time reading than boys.

6. If the last question is to examine the reading situation from an objective perspective, then the last question is to proceed from a subjective perspective.

(1) Their reading.

It is easy to see from this pie chart that most people think their reading level is average.

(2)

A lot is more, generally less, very little.

Freshmen 3% 26% 35% 26% 9%

Sophomore 5% 27% 59% 9%

Primary12%12% 44% 20%12%

Advanced 16% 74% 5% 5%

(3)

A lot is more, generally less, very little.

Boys 5% 16% 52% 18% 9%

Girls 2% 27% 48 16% 5%

The situation of men and women is basically the same.

Second, summary and analysis

1, lack of interest in reading

Most students don't like or dislike reading after class. Although we can't completely say that we don't like extracurricular reading, it is also a sign of lack of interest, or most people have little awareness of extracurricular reading. There may be many reasons, both objective and subjective. We carry out cramming examination-oriented education. In the past 12 years, teachers and parents have occupied the classroom, homework and make-up lessons, and there is little free time, so it is difficult to cultivate the interest in extracurricular reading. Now that we have gone to college, we have more free time at our disposal. When we are liberated, we will choose to play as much as we like, and it is difficult to settle down and study. Even if our teachers or parents ask us to read more extracurricular books to increase our knowledge, we will not listen to our opinions, and may even be more disgusted with extracurricular reading. Those of us who think we are liberated prefer playing games, eating and going out.

But there is also a bright side. Interest in reading is also increasing from freshman to senior, which is actually a manifestation of our growth. The new understanding of learning makes us willing to consciously read books that are useful to us and start preparing for our future.

2. There are various types of reading, and they are more inclined to leisure and entertainment.

I think those students who choose leisure newspapers and magazines should be in a state of casual reading, reading related newspapers and magazines according to their own hobbies, or reading some latest information in order to follow the trend, which can't even be called reading interest.

In addition, online popular novels have become a part of our extracurricular life. We students are the easiest to accept new things, not to mention online literature tailored for us. One novel website after another is the best proof. Girls' romance novels and boys' fantasy novel not only attract us, but also have their unique advantages. You can choose according to your own interests. You can always find what you like in the endless books on the internet, and you can get it in a few minutes. It is not only convenient, but also cheap, and it hardly costs much. At the same time, many of those novels are serialized, which are more attractive and deeply fascinated many students.

The following literary masterpieces, world popular novels, popular science books and teaching guidance books are more literary and professional, and are closer to the essence of extracurricular reading. Once this good reading choice is cultivated, it will be a fortune in our life.

There are many ways to read.

Traditional paper reading is still our first choice, which is very gratifying. After all, reading needs to be savored and pondered slowly. If you wolf down dates, you won't get anything. It is better not to study. Besides wasting time and energy, what can you get? While we slowly turn the page, we may have unexpected gains, which is also one of our interests in reading.

But after all, this era is progressing, and the network and digitalization are rapidly changing our living environment and lifestyle. Mobile phone reading and online reading are gradually replacing paper reading, which is especially accepted by our students. Especially mobile phone reading, with the continuous progress of technology, we almost have a mobile phone, which makes reading extremely convenient and can be carried out anytime and anywhere.

4. Not enough reading.

On average, less than 3 hours of extracurricular reading time every day is far from enough. Reading is the best way to improve our quality, but we need perseverance, perseverance and persistent reading. How can we fish for three days and dry the net for two days? First, the lack of middle school students' interest in reading may directly lead to our reading volume being far from enough.

Three. conclusion and suggestion

First of all, the school is duty-bound to guide college students to read after class. Schools should guide them to clarify the purpose of reading in flexible and diverse forms, realize the diversification and rationalization of extracurricular reading, and really make students interested in extracurricular reading, gain knowledge from it, be edified and improve their quality.

The library is the best place for students to read. The library is an ocean of books, a temple of knowledge and an important place to improve self-cultivation and cultivate sentiment. Therefore, schools should make full use of book resources and maximize its opening function. In order to make students get the maximum benefit from reading in the library, schools should constantly enrich the types of books in the library, increase the opening hours of the library, and strictly implement the lending system of the library. Let students live poetically here, draw nutrition from books and enjoy the fun brought by reading.

Secondly, students are the main body of reading activities, and the choice and way of reading directly determine the effect of reading. As contemporary college students, whether based on their own development or meeting the needs of social development, they should develop good reading habits and make reading a part of their lives. If we want to get rid of those meaningless online games and entertainment, we will have more reading time. Because the network is only a virtual space, the happiness it brings is short-lived, and only reading can bring people lifelong enjoyment; However, people are addicted to leisure and entertainment for a long time, and it is easy to play with things and get discouraged. Only reading can enlighten people's minds and make them noble.

The future society needs not only people with professional theoretical knowledge, but also people with noble moral sentiments and strong comprehensive ability. So those exam-oriented learning practices can only push themselves into a dead end. The scenery should be long and open-minded. Overcome the utilitarian purpose, then the optional reading range will be much wider and the road of life will be wider and wider.

Thirdly, we should cultivate a wide range of interests and constantly improve the reading structure. "Reading is like a bee. It takes a lot of flowers to make honey. " This is telling us that we should learn from others when reading. However, according to the survey results, the extracurricular reading of college students in our school shows a tendency of emphasizing specialty over quality, emphasizing recreation over theory, and emphasizing "bestsellers" over classics. Such reading tendency and reading structure are not conducive to the improvement of college students' comprehensive quality. Therefore, we should cultivate a wide range of hobbies, constantly improve the reading structure, read professional theoretical books, and read classic works, because they can become classic works, condense the best emotions and language of human beings, and make us walk into nobility and stay away from vulgarity. Leisure and entertainment are not forbidden to read, but we must not let leisure and entertainment affect our value orientation. Goethe said: "Reading a good book is like talking with many noble people", while belinsky said: "It is better not to read a book that is not suitable for you". Therefore, we should read widely, intensively and learn from others' strengths, so that reading can keep pace with the times and meet the needs of social development.
