In the course of decades of development, the School of Philosophy and Social Sciences has created its own core concept: "Learn from others", which has precipitated its own academic tradition and style. At the 30th anniversary celebration of the Department of Philosophy, the older generation of scholars, represented by Professor Gao Qinghai, summarized it into four kinds of spirits: Philosophy is a science with the highest realm and full of differences, and engaging in philosophy must have an open mind and noble realm, dedication and tenacious will, otherwise it is impossible to do this science well. Compared with the old majors of some brother universities in China, the Philosophy Department of Jilin University was established late, and it is in a weak position in academic contact, data accumulation and the construction of scholars. However, in the past 50 years, all the comrades in the hospital have cheered up their spirits, worked hard and developed their careers, which has enabled the hospital to grow rapidly and become one of the first-class professionals in China.

In the future construction and development, the School of Philosophy and Social Sciences will continue to adhere to and highlight the school-running characteristics of paying equal attention to both characteristics and advantages, pay close attention to and track the frontier of discipline development, adapt to the huge demand of national modernization, pay attention to the comprehensive research of philosophy and sociology, social psychology and other disciplines, and provide strategic, cutting-edge and countermeasure research results for the social development of China.
