Tsinghua University's predecessor, Tsinghua School, was founded in 19 1 1. It was named after Shui Mu Tsinghua University. It was a preparatory school for studying in the United States founded by the Qing government, and the founding funds came from 1908, when the United States returned part of boxer indemnity. 19 12 was renamed Tsinghua school.

1946 moved back to Tsinghua campus. From 65438 to 0952, China's universities were reorganized into multidisciplinary industrial universities. Starting from 1978, it gradually recovered and developed into a comprehensive research university.
