The school was founded in 1978, formerly known as the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Shanxi Medical College.
On May 20 17, it was officially renamed Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is the first batch of pilot universities for the reform of excellent doctor (Chinese medicine) education and training plan of the Ministry of Education, a "5+3" integrated enrollment institution for Chinese medicine majors, a training institution entrusted by the China government for scholarship students, and a demonstration university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education in Shanxi Province. It is a key construction university in Shanxi Province.
The school has perfect infrastructure and sufficient resources for running schools. There are two campuses in Taiyuan and Jinzhong, covering an area of 979 mu. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment in our school is193.83 million yuan, including paper books/kloc-0.04 million copies, electronic books 3 100 copies and 36 databases.
