There are four universities in Xuchang, namely Xuchang University, Xuchang Vocational and Technical College, Xuchang Ceramic Vocational College and Xuchang Electric Vocational College. Among them, Xuchang University is an undergraduate college, and the other three are junior colleges.

Xuchang university is a provincial full-time undergraduate college.

The school was founded in August 1989, formerly known as Lilian Normal School, located in the fifth administrative region of Henan Province.

1946 In July, Xuchang Normal School in Henan Province was established, and the five districts were merged into Xuchang Normal School. After the founding of New China, the school developed healthily. 1959, approved by the State Council as a normal college. 1963 was restructured into a secondary normal college due to national economic difficulties. 1978, the first batch of normal colleges resumed classes. In March 2002, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 20 12 years, it passed the teaching evaluation of ordinary undergraduate colleges of the Ministry of Education.
