Nanjing Forestry University (hereinafter referred to as Lin Nan) is a provincial key university jointly established by the central and local governments, and the first batch of "double-class" universities in China. It is a national typical experience university for graduates of the Ministry of Education, a national typical experience university for innovation and entrepreneurship of the Ministry of Education, an advanced teaching university in Jiangsu Province and a model school for standardization of language and writing in Jiangsu Province. The school is located in Nanjing, with Party Secretary Zhao and President Yongqiang. The motto of the school is "Honest and dignified, help others with trees".

As of March 2022, the school covers an area of1158.15 mu, of which the main campus of Xinzhuang covers an area of 1257 mu, the Jurong Xia Shu Practice Forest Farm covers an area of 4,876 mu, and the Huai 'an campus covers an area of 1327 mu. At present, there are 2 1 college (department), 70 undergraduate majors, 8 postdoctoral mobile stations, 8 first-class disciplines authorized by doctoral degrees, 26 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degrees and 19 categories authorized by master's degrees, 1 national first-class disciplines, 2 first-class disciplines and 2 national key disciplines, with more than 2,330 faculty members.

The school was formerly the Forestry Department of Central University (founded in 1902) and the Forestry Department of Jinling University (founded in 19 10), and Nanjing Forestry College was merged in 1952, which was one of the only three forestry colleges in China at that time. 1955 Huazhong agricultural college (formed by the merger of Wuhan university, Nanchang university and Hubei agricultural college) was merged with the forestry department, and 1972 was renamed Nanjing forestry industry institute. 1983 restored the name of Nanjing Forestry College, and 1985 changed its name to Nanjing Forestry University.

By 2022, Nanjing Forestry University will be ranked 109 in China University of Soft Science in 2022.
