Xiamen Institute of Technology is a full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a key construction university in Fujian Province, a first-class discipline construction university in Fujian Province, a pilot university of Fujian-Taiwan joint talent training program, a national demonstration university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, a China government scholarship training institution, and a Xiamen Chen Jiageng scholarship cooperative university. He has been selected to serve the national special needs talents training program, the excellent engineer education training program, the new engineering research and practice program, and the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" application-oriented undergraduate production and education integration development project.

The school was formerly known as Lujiang Vocational College founded by 198 1, and was renamed Xiamen Institute of Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2004. In May, 2007, it passed the evaluation of authorized units and majors of bachelor's degree. 20 1 1 Xiamen Software Vocational and Technical College merged into Xiamen Institute of Technology.
