Step 2: Adjust the hue/saturation of the image, and drag the middle anchor point to the gray area to make the model gray. Another simpler method is to hold down CMD+Shift+U (CTRL key in PC is usually the same as cmd key in Mac). Create a new blank layer and put it at the bottom. Fourth, process the top layer. Perform image adjustment shadows/highlights. Click the checkbox Show More Options, then change the number of shadows to 100 and adjust the midtone contrast to-100. Then use the filter to blur Gaussian blur, and the radius value is about 3.0. Then change the blending mode from normal to bright. The Opacity check box is next to the blending mode, and make sure that its value is 70%. In addition, in this clipping mask layer, cover the face with a mask to make the face less blurred. Compared with the era when sakura wars was born 30 years ago, the ACG industry has undergone tremendous changes. In this "information fragmentation" streaming media era, as a creator, how to adapt to these changes and how to realize their creativity and ideas in new forms?

Oji Hiroi, the original work, and LAM, the popular painter in charge of the original script and design of Echo of Destiny, recently interviewed us and shared their views on this, especially how to create an explosive character.

Youyanshe: The project "Echo of Destiny" is a story with "the world where music has disappeared" as the background and "players" who have climbed into the power of music as the center. How did Mr. Wang Zijiang come up with this concept?

Oji Hiroi: I have listened to many classical music works before. Music itself can create a lot of images for the audience, making people immersive. For example, when listening to the song "Firebird", a picture of a firebird jumping out of the burning flame will come to mind. So I thought, since we can see the real image through music, can we create interesting stories with classical music as the main body? This is the creative source of the project "Echo of Destiny".

Tomohiko: What classical music does Mr. Hiroi usually listen to? Can you share your favorite composer and music?

I often listen to Wilhelm Furtwengler, Leopold stokowski, wilhelm kempff and glenn gould. I usually choose music through conductors and performers, not composers.

Youyanshe: At present, there are many figures named after classical music in the planning. Can you share how you create characters based on classical music?

Oji Hiroi: First of all, I studied how composers conceive original music and create characters on this basis. Then I introduced the role prototype I created to the team, and gradually refined it through repeated discussions with everyone, and the players with distinct images also formed one by one in this process.

So I think the key of this project is such a conference on role creation. All members of the team seriously discussed the shapes, ideas and growth backgrounds of the characters, shared their own opinions and created these characters together.

The role design of the "player" is not always intuitively reflected in the appearance. The player "Jupiter" whose prototype is "Jupiter" in holst's Planetary Suite is somewhat different from the name itself.

You Yanshe: Mr. Jing Guang has rich creative experience in the fields of games and animation and is active in many fields of the industry. Have you encountered any new challenges in the production of mobile games such as Echo of Destiny: Voices Beyond the Lines?

Oji Hiroi: I think game making is actually a kind of teamwork, and the challenge is not the individual but the team. The first thing the team needs to consider is to integrate the producer's ideas into the game as much as possible to determine the "theme" of the story.

In fact, in the process of production and discussion, "themes" will naturally emerge. My role is to always pay attention to whether the team enjoys the theme of this story. I feel that difficulties and challenges are inevitable in the process of creation, and I don't feel very hard about it.

You: As a veteran in the industry, what impression did you leave on Mr. Hiroi in the process of cooperating with a young painter like Lin?

When I first saw Lin's illustrations, I wanted to create characters with him. His unique illustration style touched me instantly, and my inspiration gushed out, and I contacted him soon. After meeting, I thought, "Ah, if it's this person, it's no problem. I will definitely create a great role." From the process of communication, I can feel the soft atmosphere emitted by LAM, which strengthened my idea of cooperating with him.

Tomohiko: What does Mr. Hiroi think is the core charm of the project "Echo of Destiny"?

Prince Guangjing: I think classical music is almost a universal sound. For example, audiences in many countries can form similar impressions of Beethoven's Symphony of Destiny, and I am very excited about the process of creating this familiar impression into a concrete image. In my opinion, this is somewhat similar to the creation of The Avengers in the movie.

Youyanshe: What are the main differences in the creative process from the original idea of "showgirl" in sakura wars to the current plan of "Modern Personalization of Classical Music" in Echo of Destiny?

Wang Zijiang: Well, I have never made such an analysis of the difference between the two works. Because I don't promote the type of game production from the theme of the story, I won't deliberately analyze the difference between the two themes. But if Echo of Destiny can be loved by everyone, I'm sure someone else will analyze these two works.

Sakura wars and Echo of Destiny have completely different ways of expression, but it is not difficult to find similarities from their cores.

"You Yan She: Echo of Destiny" has also gained a lot of attention in China with its animation. Does Mr. Hiroi have anything to say to the fans who are looking forward to Echo of Destiny: Sighing on the Strings of China?

Oji Hiroi: In cooperation with LAM and other members of the production team, I think I met an excellent team and created a good role this time. So I hope everyone can look forward to playing this game, meeting these characters and having interesting stories with them.

You Yanshe: What was Lin's initial idea after accepting the role of designing this work? Is there anything special about the role design of this work compared with the previous illustrations?

LAM: Shortly after I left the game company as a freelance illustrator, I received a design invitation for the "Echo of Destiny" project. I was very happy at that time, because I like games very much, and it has always been my dream to be the chief designer of large-scale games.

As a big fan of Sakura Wars, the original Mr. Hiroi is a great existence, and I feel very honored to cooperate with Echo of Destiny.

Speaking of the uniqueness of this work, it should be the choice of the theme of "classical music" with a sense of history. Although "personification" is a popular technique now, I feel happy and full of fear about the intangible thing of music and the personification of classical music that has long been loved all over the world. I am worried about whether I can create a player image that can be loved by everyone.

But I think in the final analysis, it is impossible to create a character that everyone likes, so I hold "even worrying will not help!" " The idea of "conveying your answers to classical music to everyone" designed this performer.

The Creative Process of Lin's Destiny

You She Yan: Is the heroine "Destiny" the earliest character in the game "Echo of Destiny: Sigh on the String"? Where did you get the inspiration in the process of designing the role? What are your considerations?

Lin: "Destiny" is the earliest character created.

I'm usually the type of "drawing while listening to music for inspiration", so the creative way of depicting my impression of music as a painting is very suitable for my own characteristics. I created the role of "Destiny" by studying the history of composer Beethoven and the origin of music, listening to the music of the symphony of destiny, and depicting the female images that emerged in my mind as paintings.

While imagining the "red rose of fate", I created a bright red and beautiful image of a girl and woman. Her curly silver hair comes from the image of composer Beethoven.

You Yanshe: Who is Jeremy Lin's personal favorite player? Did anything interesting happen during the player's creation?

LAM: Actually, I like every player very much, but I like Variations on Little Star and Aria on G String best.

After the draft of "Little Star" was released, the staff who liked cute characters made me "strengthen a little girlish feeling", so they modified their heads and bodies, and finally completed the image of "Variations on Little Star" that everyone saw.

In the process of creation, I attach great importance to the opinions of people who prefer the role type of "Little Star", hoping to have a * * * voice with them, and have done a lot of thoughts and exchanges with them, and finally created a girl image that I find very attractive and lovely.

And "aria" is one of the few images that I have designed that despise my eyes. I am very happy to be able to create such a slightly fresh role. Moreover, in this image, she is a little fragile and lovely!

In animation works, a fixed drawing method has been formed: two horizontal lines on the top, semicircular eyes at the same end on the bottom, and the horizontal lines exceed the eyes by a certain distance.

Tomohiko: What impressed you when you first cooperated with Mr. Hiroshi Wang?

LAM: Mr. Wang Zijiang is a very frank, cheerful, gentle and energetic person. I was nervous at first, because I was a heavyweight who created many famous works.

But he gave me most of the space related to the role, so that I could design and create freely.

In the process of cooperation, he has been exchanging views on painting with me, which makes me very happy. In the process of communication, he is always full of energy, can feel his enthusiasm for his works, and is always the creator I respect very much. Besides, he is a fashionista!

Youyan Society: Does Lin like classical music? Which song do you like?

Lin: Actually, I don't know much about classical music. It often happens that I know the song but I don't know the title. But by participating in Echo of Destiny, I came into contact with a lot of music and fell in love with classical music!

Personally, I prefer Jupiter, Bell, Bat, Four Seasons (Winter) and so on. When designing the player, it will play the corresponding music in a loop and listen to it all the time. When creating, I will pay attention to whether the designed characters match the music I am listening to and ensure that there is no sense of difference between them.

Youyanshe: Lin's painting style is very unique, especially the part of the characters' eyes, which is quite recognizable. Did you add any new inspiration or gain any experience when designing eyes for the players in Echo of Destiny?

Lin: I also think my paintings are very distinctive in depicting eyes and makeup. This is very effective in illustration, but when creating the characters in the story, the freedom will actually decrease. For example, works with modern college life as the stage will be out of touch with the world view if they are all people with heavy makeup.

But the player of this design is not human, but a fantasy with musical power. So I won't limit my inspiration and I can give full play to it. Therefore, the makeup and design around the eyes of the players are full of LAM style. On the contrary, he is a human character like the hero. In order to distinguish himself from the player, he made a new attempt in the creation of eyes.

Most different players also have very different eye performances.

You Yanshe: Lin's colorful illustrations are also very popular on the Internet in China, and some fans have nicknamed you "human palette". Do you have anything to say to China fans who are keen on your work?

Lin: I'm glad I have many fans in China. Thank you very much for always paying attention to my paintings. The name "human palette" is very interesting (laughs).
