How to choose a major for undergraduate students? Recommend the four most popular majors after the epidemic, with a guide to major selection.
Whether studying abroad or taking the college entrance examination in China, many parents and students will be confused: what major should they choose? How to combine interests with majors?

Most students don't know what they like or want to learn until they graduate from high school and enter the university. This is normal, even if we have entered the society, it is estimated that a large number of people don't know what they like. Not to mention just adult children, only a few people know their future direction, which is very lucky. If you know your interests, it will be much easier to choose a major. You don't have to consider your future income and employment, just study what you like.

Last year, a girl left behind in Hunan was admitted to Peking University Archaeology with a score of 676 in the College Entrance Examination, and instantly got a hot search, which triggered a heated discussion among netizens. Netizens all think that this girl is stupid and there is no "future" in choosing such a job. In this regard, the girl's father told the media: "Most rural people are worried about money, but she is not too worried about money. I also think that children will prefer to do what they like. "

As the saying goes, all roads lead to Rome. Although the industry is different, some are in the air and some are relatively dull. Lei Jun said: "On the tuyere, pigs can fly." This is an exaggeration. Success depends partly on people's choice and partly on luck and opportunity, so there is a saying behind it: "When the wind blows, all the pigs fall to death." . No matter what industry, whether it is at the forefront, in the final analysis, it depends on personal efforts.

For example, we all know that there are too many opportunities in recent years, such as WeChat, live broadcast, short video, P2P, stock market and so on, but not every participant can make money.

Opportunities are always reserved for those who are prepared, and interest is the biggest and most direct motivation. Only in this way can we continue to pay attention to and output, and it is possible to fly when the wind comes. Doing a job that you are not interested in is a painful thing, and it will also be hindered from development. But unfortunately, most students don't know their interests, what majors are there in the university, and what's the point of looking at the names of the majors.

Take our national college entrance examination as an example. There are 92 categories and 740 undergraduate majors in China. Last year, when my cousin finished the college entrance examination, I looked at the dense list of majors when I was helping him choose a major. It can be said that most of them don't know what to do next. Just like when we go to an unfamiliar restaurant to order food, the waiter asks if you like classic Hawaiian pizza or Margaret pizza. We don't know the taste of food names, so we can only choose blindly by feeling. This choice is likely to order food that we don't like.

Therefore, when students don't have a clear idea, parents usually make decisions for their children. Choosing a major depends more on the future development. It's easy to find a job. Do you earn much? As a person who has entered the society for many years, parents must be more experienced than students to some extent. Through their own experience and surrounding environment, they will know more about various industries and occupations. However, it is easy for parents to go into a misunderstanding. For example, it is better to see the children of neighbors or relatives and friends studying finance, and let them choose to study finance when they find a good job. This kind of case is not universal, does not represent the income level of this industry, and does not see the hard work behind this work.

In order to avoid being too different from the reality, there are some ways to reduce the risk.

(1) First of all, you can verify the true content of the industry, specialty and occupation, so as to judge whether it is suitable for children. Please ask people who are engaged in related occupations in the industry to understand the real situation of their work. Try to find as many people as possible, not only the best in this industry, but also those who have left this industry to understand the bad side of this industry. Do more research and try to understand an industry in all directions.

(2) Verify the real income of the industry. You can go to the larger recruitment websites in China, read more job advertisements, understand the real market conditions, see what the real starting salary of graduates is, and understand the upper limit of industry income that can be achieved after working for many years.

(3) verify the employment situation of the industry after graduation and check the data published by the state and schools. For example, how many fresh graduates are there in this major every year, and how many jobs can the industry provide every year? You can even call the intermediary, pretend to find a job, sound out the market, and see if there is a shortage of people for good employment at present. Whether there will be development in the future and so on. This is one of the common methods that I often want to get some effective information.

In fact, after entering the society, we all understand the truth that school education is often lagging behind, which is most obvious in medical majors, especially clinical medicine majors. Even what some majors learned in school is out of date after graduation. Although many people may not engage in this major after graduation, from the perspective of planning, we still look at it in the long run. How is this industry developing? Are there any sub-industries? Some majors may be popular for several years, and some majors are very popular these two years, and they may not work in two years.

Having said so much, it is simple and rude. I don't know what major I should choose for my interest.

We have been taught since childhood that "science and technology are the primary productive forces". In the past two years, the epidemic has confirmed this sentence: Sino-US trade war, Huawei was banned ... The importance of basic disciplines and science and engineering has once again become prominent. So my favorite majors are all in the direction of science and engineering. The majors in the direction of science and technology mentioned here mainly include four categories.

1.ICT, computer and communication fields. After graduation, you can go to major IT companies, including the familiar BAT, major mobile phone manufacturers, and drone smart equipment companies. According to "Blue Book on Employment: Report on Undergraduate Employment in China in 2020" and "Blue Book on Employment of Higher Vocational College Students in China in 2020", more than half of the graduates of the 20th19th class are ICT majors, and computer majors basically lead the salary list regardless of undergraduate or higher vocational graduates.

2. The second category is engineering majors (especially traditional engineering majors), such as mechanical engineering, civil engineering and electrical engineering, which have been needed in the past few hundred years and will be needed in the next few hundred years, and their income is also ahead. There are many subdivisions of engineering majors. Personally, I don't want to choose sub-majors, but choose the most basic categories directly, such as vehicle engineering, automobile service engineering, mechanical and electronic engineering, etc. Why choose a big category instead of a major? There are three reasons:

(1) Basic courses are the most practical.

(2) A wide range of employment and many choices.

(3) It's easier for basic majors to transfer into subdivision fields, but it's more difficult for subdivision fields to transfer into other fields.

This is also applicable to other majors, such as the computer major mentioned just now. Try to choose big categories instead of sub-fields, because universities will catch up with some hot spots now, and will open some topic majors according to market demand, such as the recent blockchain. It is relatively hot, and individual schools have opened blockchain majors.

3. Biomedicine. At present, the education and medical market in China is over 5 trillion. With the acceleration of aging in China, there will be more room for development in the future. Actually, it's not hard to understand. Think about where each family spends the most. In addition to the house, it is education and medical care.

Agriculture is the most basic field of people's livelihood and the foundation of national security. Everything else can be without it, but it is impossible without agriculture.

These recommended majors are characterized by strong professionalism and weak substitutability, which conforms to the trend of the times. They are likely to be supported by government policies in the future, no matter which country they are in.

Let's take a look at the technology roadmap of key areas of Made in China 2025. The top ten fields are basically these four majors, so the future development direction of science and engineering must be very bright.

Of course, the premise of choosing science and engineering is that children's physical chemistry courses have advantages and cannot be too bad. If the child's science and engineering background is not very good, what major should he choose? I will share it with you later when I have time.

Next, I will publish some collections one after another, mainly introducing the popular university majors at home and abroad in detail. At present, the planned majors are medicine, mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, computer, multimedia, law, accounting, economics, psychology, architectural design and so on.
