The predecessor of the college can be traced back to the computer major founded by the school in the 1970s (1978). After several generations of unremitting efforts, the School of Computer and Information Engineering was founded in 1995. In 2009, the school departments were adjusted to form a new computer and information college. The college has doctoral programs in computer science and technology, information and communication engineering, doctoral programs in water informatics, postdoctoral research stations in computer science and technology, three master programs in computer science and technology, information and communication engineering and electronic science and technology, two master programs in pattern recognition and intelligent systems and water informatics, three master programs in computer technology, software engineering and electronics and communication engineering, and computer application technology 1 university. The college has three undergraduate majors: computer science and technology, communication engineering and electronic information engineering. Among them, computer application technology discipline 1996 was awarded as the key discipline of the Ministry of Water Resources, and this discipline echelon was awarded as the "Blue Project" excellent discipline echelon in Jiangsu Province in 2002. In 2004, computer science and technology was rated as a provincial major in Jiangsu Province, and was approved as a national major in 2008. In 2008, communication engineering was rated as a top-quality specialty in Jiangsu Province, and 20 10 was approved as a national specialty. So far, the college has trained more than 4,000 graduates, including more than 600 graduate students. There are nearly 1300 undergraduates, 400 postgraduates, 200 engineering masters and 40 doctoral students. After more than 30 years of construction and development, the college has become an important base for training computer and electronic information engineering talents. Graduates are distributed in domestic universities, scientific research institutions and large and medium-sized enterprises and institutions, many of whom undertake important work in scientific research and management and are well received by employers.

In recent years, the College has undertaken a number of national "973" and "863" projects such as Three Gorges Project, Digital Yellow River Project, National Flood Control Command System, National Natural Science Foundation projects and major water conservancy and hydropower construction projects, completed a number of scientific research achievements with high theoretical level and great application value, published nearly 1,000 papers (including more than 500 SCI and EI), published more than 20 monographs, and won the national patent/kloc-0. It has achieved a number of internationally advanced and domestically advanced scientific research achievements, which have a certain influence at home and abroad, and become an important research base that is in line with the forefront of similar international disciplines and closely combines theory with engineering technology. After more than 20 years of development, the college has built two master's programs in communication and information system, detection technology and automation device, and recruited students from electronics and communication engineering and computer application technology engineering. There are five undergraduate majors: communication engineering, electronic information engineering, automation, computer science and technology, and electronic science and technology. Up to now, the college has trained more than 4,000 undergraduates, with master's degree 100. At present, there are more than 2,000 undergraduates, 0/50 graduate students and 0/00 engineering graduate students. The college has trained a large number of outstanding talents with solid basic theoretical knowledge, strong practical innovation ability and high comprehensive quality for national construction. Graduates have become the backbone of the IT industry and have been well received by employers.

In recent years, the college has made remarkable achievements in teaching reform and scientific research. He has undertaken and completed more than 20 projects of "863", "948", national and provincial natural SCIence funds and scientific research projects of enterprises and institutions1,won more than 40 teaching achievement awards at provincial, ministerial, municipal and school levels, and published more than 300 papers (including sci, EI, ISTP, etc.). )

The college has always attached importance to the cultivation of students' practical innovation ability and formed a complete training system. Students have a high participation rate and winning rate in major activities such as the National University Challenge Cup, the National University Electronic Design Competition and the National Mathematical Modeling Competition.
