Transportation and international shipping management are the school's characteristic majors. 1986 transportation and international shipping is listed as the key specialty in Shanghai, and 1988 transportation planning and management is listed as the key discipline of the Ministry of Communications. In 2007 and 2008, the discipline of transportation planning and management was approved by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission as a national key discipline (cultivation) and a key discipline of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. Shipping management and logistics management are listed as national specialty. In 2008, two characteristic majors, logistics management and shipping management, were funded by the Shanghai Undergraduate Education Highland Construction Project. Jiaotong University now has the right to award doctoral degrees in transportation planning and management, with more than 20 doctoral students in school; There are two master's programs in transportation engineering and transportation planning and management, and two Sino-foreign cooperative postgraduate training programs in international shipping and logistics engineering and logistics management, which train more than 500 graduate students.
