19 12. The Henan Preparatory School for Studying in Europe and America was founded in the old site of Gong Yuan in the Qing Dynasty. General Feng Yuxiang appropriated special funds for the preparation of Henan University. After discussion by the provincial Council, it was decided to name the school "Zhongzhou University" and appointed Zhang Honglie, president of the preparatory school for studying in Europe and America, as a preparatory committee member. Subsequently, the provincial Council formally appointed Zhang Honglie as the president of Zhongzhou University, and founded the university on the basis of pre-school.

19 15, the teaching building of Henan Preparatory School for Studying in Europe and America-Building 6 of Modern Complex of Henan University started.

1922 In August, the Henan provincial government approved deed tax as a special fund for education, and Henan's education funds were realized independently.

1On March 3rd, 923, based on the establishment of Henan Preparatory School for Studying in Europe and America, Zhongzhou University was rebuilt, the opening ceremony was held, and two subjects were set up.

1In June, 927, General Feng Yuxiang decided to merge Henan Public School of Politics and Law and Henan Provincial Agricultural College into Zhongzhou University, rebuild the national Kaifeng Sun Yat-sen University (the fifth national Sun Yat-sen University), and add agricultural science and law.

In September, 1928, the school added a medical department.

1in August, 930, the school was renamed as the provincial Henan University, and the five subjects of literature, science, law, agriculture and medicine were changed to the Fifth Hospital. Zhong Zhang was appointed as the principal and was officially named as Henan University.

1In August, 934, the Department of Civil Engineering of Henan University was merged into Tianjin Beiyang University (now Tianjin University).
